The Gunners opening Premier League match is fast approaching, admittedly Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s mind may be on England’s upcoming friendly with Scotland in midweek, but will the talented midfielder get the nod this weekend against Aston Villa?
Arsene Wenger opted to use The Ox on the left against Manchester City in their final preseason fixture in which they ran out 3-1 victors, however that was mainly due to Podolski’s involvement as the centre forward.
With Santi Cazorla lacking as much preparation as the others and utilized to great affect on the left wing in Arsenal’s season run-in, as well as Tomas Rosicky’s niggling injuries Chambo could be involved from the starting whistle as the Gunners central attacking midfielder.
Much will depend on the international friendlies this week. England play at Wembley meaning The Ox will not be traveling far unlike some of his other teammates further helping his cause.
He has shown plenty of times on tour this summer how effective he can be through the middle, so Oxlade-Chamberlain has every chance to be starting this weekend.
What do you think Gooners? Think the Ox should start against Aston Villa? Or be introduced from the bench? Comment below..
