Arsenal and England midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has given his club and country and boost with reports suggesting he has begun running and is expected to return to training soon.
The 20-year-old suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury during the 3-1 opening day loss to Aston Villa and is set to miss the remainder of 2013. It does appear that he is edging closer to returning to training if he has begun taking to the field, rather than being restricted to the gym. The next step is ball work, but after such a serious knee injury he will not be rushed with his recovery.
He looks pencilled in for a return to playing action in January, giving him plenty of time to re-integrate into the strong Arsenal side and look ahead to England’s trip to Brazil in the summer.
The news will be pleasing for Gooners who are keen to see Chambo back out on the pitch, especially as Wenger will need all the resources he can for their title charge.
